I will keep this brief, as all I want to say is “thank you.” These past few weeks have been an amazing reminder of what a wonderful community this is, and from day one until the end, that support has been greatly appreciated. Also, a big thank you to Seattle Met, for taking the time to chat with us and giving us further time to reflect in our conversation with Laura Cassidy.

At the End of January, We Bid You Adieu

After nine years, Moms, Maids, and More will be closing its doors. This business started as the fulfillment of a childhood dream, and it blossomed into something so much more meaningful. Working with clients who hail from all backgrounds and who have love stories of all types has been a beautiful and touching experience.

I have seen a lot over the years: taffeta being “in” then “out” (then “in” again); color trends of brown with pink, tiffany blue, dark purple, and the now popular “non-color” scheme; the rise and fizzle of Yelp (thanks for keeping us on our toes), talented women inventing can’t-live-without-them products (Spanx and Solemates, to name a few), and the legalization of same-sex marriage in our state.

I have not done this alone. From day one, I have had a solid team who shared my passion for creating a pleasant, relaxed shopping experience while hopefully alleviating some of your wedding planning stress. The Moms, Maids, and More family has shared many good times together, and I hope that translated into a fun shopping experience for you.

So why the change? I am just ready for a new chapter, and my brain is starting to reach in other directions. Our lease ends at the end of January, and while I had hoped to find a buyer prior to that date, it was not in the cards. This has been a sublime and extremely fulfilling journey, and I thank you for being part of it.

Winter Sample Sale Starts December 1st!

Whether you need a dress for an upcoming holiday party, want to plan ahead for a spring gala, or need cocktail dress ready to go, this sale is not to be missed.

All gown samples will be marked down from 25% – 50% off, and all accessories will be at least 15% off. Styles range from full ball gowns to short cocktail dresses in a spectacular range of colors. Our samples range in size from 0 to 30, with the greatest concentration between sizes 6 to 14. Sale will run from December 1^st to December 15^th.

STORE HOURS: Tuesday through Friday - 11am to 7pm; Saturday - 10am to 6pm; Sunday – 12pm to 5pm; Mondays – closed.

You Voted, You Approved, We Made History

Congratulations! For the couples who can now marry and for the citizens of Washington who helped make civil rights history, we are incredibly excited. Approval of R74 is a huge step for equality, and we are proud to be part of a community where the majority used its voice to stand in support of its sisters and brothers. The race was close, which means there is still much to overcome, so we look forward to doing all we can to further the understanding that marriage equality is key for a just society. To everyone who voted for love, thank you. We look forward to the celebrations ahead.

Every day, we help clients prepare for one of the most momentous days in their lives, and it is brutally unjust that so many are not able to celebrate their love the same way. For some of us this is a personal matter, for some of us this is a legal matter. For all of us, this is a civil rights matter. We are on the brink of making civil rights history, but this can’t happen unless each of us does our part. Every voice counts and every voice matters – that is the point. Congratulations to Erin Dickey and Michael Carpinito who recently tied the knot and are featured in the Summer/Fall issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom magazine. We had the pleasure of working with Erin to outfit her bridesmaids. The wedding colors were neutral: blush pinks and champagne tones, so finding the right shade for the bridesmaids was key. The bridesmaids wore a strapless chiffon gown from Belsoie that was in a shimmery latte color. Erin’s artful use of soft, neutral tones set a romantic backdrop for what appears to have been a truly magical day. Congratulations Erin and Michael, and thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day.

Fifty Shades for Your Bridesmaids

I know summer is supposed to be right around the corner, but we can’t seem to escape the gray. So, why not embrace it? Short of saying “gray is the new black” (isn’t orange the new black?), gray has definitely risen in popularity, and so far this year, gray dresses have been more in demand than ever before. Practical and versatile with the ability to be sexy – it is so very Seattle. With all of the available shades of gray, you can create everything from a soft, romantic look to a more edgy, contemporary look. And while fifty may be a stretch, you can certainly mix up your palette of gray and even add a pop of color.
